How to make Apple Pie

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch or all-purpose flour

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the chilled butter cubes.

Use a pastry cutter or your hands to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough just holds together when pinched.
