How to make Beef Bharta Pizza

Creating a Beef Bharta Pizza involves combining the rich, spiced flavors of Indian beef bharta with the traditional elements of a pizza. Here’s a guide on how to make this fusion dish:

Ingredients:

For the Beef Bharta:

  • Beef (such as chuck roast or stewing beef), cooked and shredded
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes, finely chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste
  • Green chilies, finely chopped
  • Cumin powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Garam masala
  • Red chili powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cooking oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

For the Pizza:

  • Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Pizza sauce or tomato sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Optional: sliced bell peppers, onions, or other toppings of your choice

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Beef Bharta:

  1. Cook the beef until tender (you can use a pressure cooker or slow cooker for this). Once cooked, shred the beef using forks or by pulsing in a food processor. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and oil starts to separate.
  5. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add the shredded cooked beef to the pan and mix thoroughly with the spice mixture. Cook for a few more minutes until the flavors meld together. Remove from heat and set aside.

2. Prepare the Pizza:

  1. Preheat your oven according to the pizza dough instructions.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza tray or baking sheet.
  4. Spread a layer of pizza sauce or tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
  5. Spread the prepared Beef Bharta mixture over the sauce, ensuring it’s evenly distributed across the pizza.
  6. If desired, add sliced bell peppers, onions, or other toppings over the beef bharta.
  7. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese generously over the pizza.

3. Baking:

  1. Drizzle a little olive oil over the pizza for added flavor.
  2. Place the pizza in the preheated oven.
  3. Bake according to the dough instructions or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

4. Serving:

  1. Once baked, remove the Beef Bharta Pizza from the oven.
  2. Sprinkle freshly chopped coriander leaves over the hot pizza for garnish.
  3. Slice the pizza and serve hot.

Tips:

  • Adjust the spice levels in the Beef Bharta according to your preference for heat.
  • Feel free to customize the pizza by adding your favorite toppings such as olives, mushrooms, or jalapeños.
  • Serve the Beef Bharta Pizza with a side of mint chutney or raita for a refreshing contrast to the spicy flavors.
