Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight for better flavor.
  2. Heat butter and oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent and slightly golden.
  3. Add garam masala, cumin powder, and coriander powder to the pan. Sauté for a minute until the spices release their aroma.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until it is lightly browned and cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Pour in the tomato puree and mix well with the chicken. Cook for a few minutes until the tomato puree is well incorporated and the sauce thickens.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream to the pan, stirring gently to combine it with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer a slightly sweeter flavor, add honey at this stage and stir well.
  8. Once the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce reaches a desired consistency, remove from heat. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with steamed rice, naan bread, or roti.
