Pepper steak is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines tender beef strips with bell peppers and a savory sauce. Here’s a recipe to help you make pepper steak:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch mixture, sugar, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Add the beef slices to the skillet and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced onion. Cook for about 2 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. Add the sliced bell peppers to the skillet and continue stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well to coat the ingredients evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed.
  8. Serve the pepper steak hot over steamed rice or noodles.

You can also customize the recipe by adding other vegetables like mushrooms or snow peas. Enjoy your homemade pepper steak!
